Sony to Release Limited Edition PS4 in Original PlayStation Colors

Good news for old-school gamers, nostalgists, and adults who refuse to believe that the 90s are over. Sony is releasing a limited edition PS4 in the colors of the original PlayStation, which first launched in Japan in 1994. The 20th Anniversary PS4 edition will cost $499 in North America, €499  in Europe and 49,980 Yen in Japan. Sony is only planning to sell 12,300 units in the original PlayStation colors.

For many people in my age group, the original PlayStation was their first introduction to gaming. Games like “Metal Gear Solid”, “Tomb Raider”, “Resident Evil”, “Crash Bandicoot” and “Final Fantasy VII” helped define a generation. Even today, despite competition from the Xbox One and the Wii U, many Filipinos remain fiercely loyal to the Sony PS4. Gamers who have held off on buying a PS4 now have a compelling reason to buy one, if only to reminisce about the good old days. There’s no word yet on when the console will hit our shores but interested gamers will want to stay tuned to Sony Philippines and Data Blitz for announcements.
