Somebody Pointed a Camera to the Moon, Zoomed It In, and It Was Awesome!

Somebody got this digital camera, pointed it to the moon, zoomed it in, and posted a cool video of it on YouTube.

From the YouTube account of Naturbeobachtungen von Lothar Lenz, (translated from German as “Nature observation of Lothar Lenz”), this video below shows what happened when he took out his Nikon Coolpix P900 with 83x optical zoom, pointed it to the moon on a clear day, and zoomed it in.

Watch the video below.

The focal length of the P900 lens is the 35mm equivalent of 24-2,000mm. Yes, that is a whopping 2,000mm. It features a digital zoom reaching up to 4,000mm, which on the video can be observed at around the 30-second mark when the image started getting more pixelated.

The Nikon Coolpix P900 is not really a huge camera. It is about 137.4mm thick and 899g heavy. It retails somewhere above PhP 30,000.

And its most spectacular subject so far? The moon.
