When it comes to summer footwear, flip-flops are so 2004– I’m pretty sure the only pair of flip-flops I own nowadays are saved for the bathroom. For the perfect pair for your feet this sunny season, go with a timeless classic that will always remind of you of the summer breeze, sand and waves you love. I’m talking about espadrilles!
Espadrilles are great footwear that perfectly combine comfort and style. They’re known for their flexible soles made out of braided jute rope, that offer breathability for the shoes.
Not to mention, the braided soles look stylish too! It’s also versatile– whether you’re spending your summer vacation in a luxurious cruise, a quiet beach, or even at the mall, you can never go wrong with these shoes! That’s why it’s so great that Soludos has finally arrived on Philippine shores.

Relatively new to the footwear scene, Soludos was founded in 2010, when its founder, Nick Brown, was unable to find the traditional rope-soled espadrilles he used to wear as a child, when he was on a holiday on the Spanish coast. The name Soludos is from “Salud”, a Spanish word often said during toasts, and “sol”, the Spanish word for sun.
Soludos is designed in Soho, New York, and is loved all over the world! Not surprising, as it mixes the classic comfort of the espadrille we have come to know and love, with a modern bohemian touch; hence, all the chic and trendy designs Soludos offers. But while espadrilles in general are associated with summer getaways, what’s great about the Philippines is that it’s a tropical country, making it great to wear Soludos all year long!
We especially love how effortlessly chic Soludos espadrilles are. They’re simple yet sophisticated, yet offer the comfort and ease you would hope for in a summer-inspired shoe. Whether you’re going for classic, preppy, or bohemian, there is definitely a Soludos shoe design for your summer look!
Aside from the original design, or the smoking slippers, Soludos comes in a variety of designs, ranging from lace-ups to wedges! I also love how the jute rope soles provide that timeless touch to the Soludos shoe. Not only that, they’re comfortable and durable as well. I’m pretty sure these shoes will be around for more summers to come.
Soludos is available at Glorietta 2, Citizens of Summer at Ayala Center Cebu, and select Shoe Salon and Rustan’s Department Stores.
