The indie scene is a close and personal movement that taps into a person’s individuality. It is the personality—raw and unpolished. On the other hand, Valentine’s Day is a personal event often associated with couples. Southville International – Junior Marketing Association (SIJMA) puts these two opposing forces in its upcoming event. Smitten: A Love A-Fair is a Valentine fair that integrates the authentic and nostalgic essence of indie. It is a celebration of the indie Valentine, striving to commemorate the love of couples and the individuality of singles.
Smitten: A Love A-Fair is a fundraising event organized by SIJMA, the official student organization for the BSBA Marketing Management students of Southville International School and Colleges (SISC). The event will be at River Park in Festival Supermall, Alabang on Saturday, 11 February 2017 at 3 pm – 11 pm. Tickets are priced at Php 200.00 inclusive of a glow stick for the concert.Proceeds from the event will benefit SIJMA, other SISC student organizations, and Camillus MedHaven, a nursing home based in Marikina.
Among the many features of Smitten is the opening of Shop with Love, a 4-day bazaar organized by WALKonWATER Events with handmade crafts and other artisanal products. Some of these products include Coldstone Creamery, The Bacon Club, KahitMunti, Pasalubong, lemonade, and customized shirts.
Valentine-themed games and other activity booths will line the walkways, organized by the different student organizations of SISC. These include Don’t Break My Heart (Nerf target shooting), Wedding Booth, Dart-to-the-Heart Art (dart shooting with paint balloons), Freedom Wall, Hugot Tree, Bubble Mania, and a Candlelight Vigil for Feelings that Died.Smitten will also feature the launching of River Park’s Love Locks, wherein couples can purchase padlocks and leave it on the designated bridge area as a manifestation of their love.
As the highlight of the event, there will be a mini concert exclusive for ticket holders. The concert will feature top indie bands to serenade the crowd and event-goers as they enjoy the evening. Among the guest bands of the evening are Leanne &Naara (Facebook | YouTube | SoundCloud), Lions & Acrobats (Facebook | SoundCloud), and MilesExperience (Facebook | YouTube | SoundCloud).
Come and reminisce the nostalgia of carnivals and fairs, of bicycles and polka dots, of sunsets and muted colors.
