Smash Project 2013 Brings Back All Time Low to Manila!

What do Sum 41, All Time Low, We Start Partys, and Miss May I have in common?

Smash Project 2013!

Dayly Entertainment‘s trademark rock festival is returning for its second year (more years to come!) with more bands and a bigger venue this March 8, 2013, and music lovers are raving about it as early as now!

Introducing the Smash Project 2013 Line-Up

Targeting an all-star line-up of nine of the most requested Punk Rock and Metal bands in recent years, Smash Project 2013 will be headlined by All Time Low who has recently released their fifth studio album “Don’t Panic”. Their latest single “Somewhere in Neverland” is  a clever interpretation of the Peter Pan tale. The instrumentation is as brilliant as ever and the vocals smooth and strong as always. Expect All Time Low to best their 2011 Manila performance and leave the audience with satisfied grins as they cap off Smash Project 2013!

All Time Low “Somewhere in Neverland”

All Time Low will be joined by Canadian Punk Rock band Sum 41 (AKA “The Sums”) which in my generation was known for the fun, uncomplicated feel of their songs and videos like “In Too Deep” and “Still Waiting”. Of course as the band’s members matured, the undertones of their music became more loaded as well. For Smash Project 2013, I hope Sum 41 plays both their old and new songs, the fun and the more serious, especially since this is their first time to visit the Philippines.

Here’s the video of “In Too Deep” as we toast to Steve’s “Perfect 10” dive!

Completing the Pop Punk bonanza are We Start Partys and Chunk! No Captain Chunk! We Start Partys is a pretty recent band that incorporates electronica to their music (and thus, they start partys). While some of their songs are too boy band-ish for me, there are singles like “Seasons” that I do enjoy.

Chunk! on the other hand is a cross between Punk Pop and Heavy Metal, with a fantastic beat blaster for a drummer, but with the voice quality of their lead singer, will be impossible to catch the hardcore Metal followers. Their music is actually precarious, and you’ll either love them for trying out such a brave combination or hate them for being half-assed about the genre they’re performing. The beats are effin’ great though! You can’t hate on that!

Speaking of Metal, if you’re into the more complex, guitar-shredding, drum-blasting music, Smash Project 2013 got you covered as well with Of Mice & Men and Miss May I. These bands will have you head banging in no time, and if The Used was able to stir up the crowd to form a mosh pit in Smash Project 2012, mosh pits will without a doubt be present with these two bands at the helm!

That makes 6 out of 9. But as it is, Smash Project 2013 is already shaping up to be one hell of a music festival, no? When In Manila, rock out with All Time Low, Sum 41, and the rest of the insane line-up of bands in Dayly Entertainment’s Smash Project 2013!
