The UP Manila Indayog Dance Varsity, on their 30th anniversary, once again graced the stage at St. Cecilia’s Hall, St. Scholastica’s College as they gave life to the enduring, ever-evolving customs of the Filipino through a series of performances. Celebrating our rich culture and the unity of the Filipino spirit, the university’s official dance varsity aptly entitled this year’s dance concert “Diwa.”

Now on its 13th year, Sayaw Manila 2017 featured acts that truly rekindled the Filipino within, showcasing all-too-familiar themes including among others the art of courting, the barkada syndrome, and the familial ties that bind. In addition, guest performers Beast House, Kare Adea, Team Package Makers (TPM), The Manoeuvers, Rock*well, House of Mizrahi, Audience of One, The Addlib, Camp Synergy, UP Pharmakinetics Dance Society, Public Health Artists’ Circle (PHAC), SinAg, UP Manila Belle, and UP MedRhythmics pulled their respective feats well and thus fittingly paved the road for the main show of the night.

As per the advocacy of this annual event, part of the proceeds were donated to The Heart at Play Foundation, a caring community that provides free Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) to those children with special needs.
