Slash Live in Manila This May 4, 2013!

When In Manila, 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Slash will set his magical Gibson electric on fire as he performs live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum this May 4, 2013. Joining him are Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge fame, Bobby Schneck, Todd Kerns, and Brent Fitz, collectively known as The Conspirators.

With a legendary musical career spanning more than two decades as the iconic lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses (who can forget that opening, reverberating riff of “Welcome to the Jungle” announcing GNR to the world?), re-emerging in 2002 with Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland in the superband known as Velvet Revolver, and collaborating with an all-star roster of musicians for his self-titled album, Slash is without a doubt one of the most recognizable rock icons of our time.

Slash‘s riffs are clean yet complex, awe-inspiring and cowering to an extent, distinct and unmistakably his. His work in that seminal GNR album Appetite for Destruction is art, and I would ask my future children to listen to that album as part of their education in music, along with Mozart, Bach, and maybe Dream Theater.

After the chart-topping success of his eponymous solo album, Slash collaborated with Alter Bridge‘s Myles Kennedy for his second album Apocalyptic Love. They are joined by Schneck, Kerns, and Fitz who are seasoned musicians themselves. So it’s no surprise that past concerts of the Apocalyptic Love tour have been reviewed as “solid” and “one of the best”.

For those who are wondering what songs Slash will play with his new band, previous setlists hint that the concert will focus on Slash‘s career more than the collaboration that they are currently doing. Expect “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City” to be thrown in with “Dr. Alibi” and “By the Sword”.
