Last month, I was blessed to have the luxury of time to attend a Wedding Photography workshop by Nikon School.
I’ve been wanting to learn about wedding photography for the longest time, but I couldn’t seem to find a class which best suited my schedule. When I saw the announcement on Nikon Philippines‘ Facebook page, I didn’t hesitate to sign up because I didn’t want to miss the chance to learn from Nikon Pro Mr. Joe Galian and also receive my very own Nikon School certificate.
The Wedding Photography workshop by Nikon School was a 2-day event and was facilitated by Professional Photographer and Nikon Pro Mr Joe Galian. The 2- day workshop was held in 2 venues namely at the Nikon School Center in Makati for the classroom discussion and prenup shoot then the full mock wedding was held then at The Pergola where we had a bride and groom model.

That 2-day Wedding Photography Workshop by Nikon School was truly worth it, for not only did we learn a lot of useful lessons from our brilliant instructor, but we were also oriented about the “business side” of having your own wedding photography business. Sir Joe even shared some sample contracts which we could use for our future clients as well as a list of mandatory wedding shots plus ideas on rates that we can charge clients.

After the class discussion, we immediately went out to shoot. Our topic that day was about Basic poses and Pre Nup shoots …
In this session Sir Joe taught us some basic poses that we could make our clients do during shoots. He also taught us some lighting principles!

Here, were learned practical tips on how to take photos of the bride and groom with the use of flash for a more artistic effect!
Our teacher Sir Joe is such an expert in using strobes! Made me think of buying my own flash soon!
Through this workshop, I realized how challenging it is to become a wedding photographer! It sure takes a lot of skill, planning, creativity as well as a patience plus presence of mind to have a successful shoot.
It also pays to have a dedicated team to help you with the shots specially on the wedding day! Furthermore, it’s ideal to be physically fit during wedding shoots for you always have to move around to never miss any moment!
I never thought I’d learn so much in only 2 days and what we did definitely exceeded all my expectations! I highly recommend this to anyone who aspires to become a better photographer and aims to be a professional wedding photographer in the future.
I’d like to thank our teacher Sir Joe Galian, for sharing with his expertise, experiences and for inspiring us to better our craft!
