Travel in and outside the Philippines has been put to a pause by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the government has recently announced that Filipinos can travel internationally as long as requirements are met, it is likely that people will immediately jump on it for non-essential, leisure travel.
However, as the world opens up again in the middle of a health crisis, different countries are coming up with schemes to invite tourists.
For instance, in Japan, bullet train (Shinkansen) prices will be slashed by 50% starting from August 20 until March 31, 2021. The discount is available on all JR East shinkansen lines except the Hokuriku Shinkansen’s Kagayaki and Hakutaka trains (which travels to Toyama and Kanazawa). For these lines, ticket prices will be 50% off only until September 30, 2020.
To take advantage of the 50% discount, tickets should be bought via the official JR East website between 20 days and one month prior to your departure date.

This is an amazing deal, only if we can travel soon. But for people who are already in Japan, this can be an enticing way to travel domestically.
This will give huge savings because for instance, a one-way bullet train ticket from Tokyo to Akita usually costs ¥17,920 (~P8,252). Now, with the discount, you can get it for only ¥8,950 (~P4,121). JR East’s Shinkansen lines connect Tokyo to plenty of popular tourist destinations.
