Facing a deficit in the senatorial race, detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy is demanding a manual recount of votes.

According to the latest Commission on Elections (Comelec) tally, Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ ministry, ranks 31st with 5,577,812 votes.

“We are grateful for the millions of Filipinos who supported Pastor Apollo’s senatorial campaign. However, due to widespread reports of discrepancies in election returns, varying firmware versions, and overvoting concerns, he requests a full manual recount of the senatorial votes” stated his legal counsel, Atty. Israelito Torreon.

Quiboloy, who faces child and sexual abuse, and human trafficking charges in both Philippine and US courts, has consistently denied these allegations.

Torreon clarified that the request for a recount is “not a rejection of the democratic process, but a call to ensure the accurate recording of the people’s voice.”
