Some millennials might not know that long before Senator Loren Legarda entered politics, she was actually a TV news presenter, having graduated with a degree in Broadcast Communication from UP!
And now, the senator is going back to her roots in television via “Dayaw” on ANC, to promote her advocacy of preserving Filipino culture and heritage.
Dayaw, which is kicking off its second season, is being produced in collaboration with the NCCA (National Commission on Culture and the Arts).
According to the senator:
Whenever I talk to IPs or visit indigenous communities, I always discover marvelous things about our culture and heritage… To me, it is not just another television show but a legacy for the Filipino people.
Episodes of the show include different native culinary techniques, indigenous houses, spiritual traditions, and other aspects of Filipino heritage.
According to ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes:
As journalists and media practitioners, we in ABS-CBN and ANC have deemed it our responsibility, in fact our duty to do our part in promoting this knowledge about our past, and pushing for an enlightened citizenry.
Sounds like an interesting show to look forward to!
