Senator Bong Go will go on Self-quarantine: Here’s Why

Senator Bong Go announced that he will be going on self-quarantine after coming into contact with a congressman— ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Eric Yap— who tested positive for COVID-19.

On March 25, Go said that his team began tracking down the participants who attended the meeting with him last Saturday after Yap confirmed that he was positive for COIVD-19.

Based on their findings, the meetings attended by Yap include the one he led on March 10 with the House Committee on Appropriations. He also attended a meeting in Malacañang on March 21 to discuss the proposal of granting additional powers to President Rodrigo Duterte in containing the pandemic from spreading. And on March 23, Yap attended the special session of the House of Representatives.

Other officials present during the March 21 meeting include Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, and Senator Pia Cayetano, as well as Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, and Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado.

Although Go claims that he does not exhibit any symptoms, he chose to self-quarantine because it is the protocol dictated after being exposed to persons positive for COVID-19.

To date, the Senators who have been found positive for COVID-19 include Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and Koko Pimentel.
