Selena Gomez wrote a beautiful letter to the LGBTQ+ community

In celebration of Pride Month, Billboard reached out to celebrities to write “love letters” to the LGBTQ+ community, and it’s just so beautiful.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez, who has long been vocal about the rights of the LGBTQ+ sector, has written about her love for the community she was introduced to as a young child. The 24-year-old singer and actress shared that it was her mother who first introduced her to the community, saying, ” I definitely give credit to her for raising me in an environment that was incredibly open-minded and non-judgmental.”

Selena also wrote:

“I remember as a young child going to brunch on Sundays with my mom and her group of friends. I had no idea they were all gay as I didn’t even comprehend what that meant at the time. All I knew is that I loved being surrounded by these kind, fun and loving friends my mother had around her.”

The pop star also noted that while her generation “is the most progressive”, there’s a lot more work that needs to be done to fully grant LGBTQ+ rights.

“There is still a significant amount of work to do and I look forward to the day when a person is never judged, discriminated or feared for their sexuality.”

Well said.
