Known as Asia’s duathlon queen, Monica Torres is still a cut above the rest as she dominated early to win Philippine duathlon’s first gold in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
Torres delivered a gold medal after leading the women’s duathlon on the second day of SEA Games 2019.
Her official time is 2:08:44 in the bike-race event Monday in Subic.

Meanwhile, Sonsem Pareeya from Thailand came in at second place with a time of 2:11:18, while Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh landed at third with a time of 2:14:20.
In the men’s duathlon, Joey delos Reyes got the silver medal for the Philippines.
Delos Reyes clocked in with an official time of 1:53:04. Indonesia’s Jauhari Johan (1:52:51) ruled the competition, while Thailand’s Nattawut Srinate (1:53:05) settled for bronze.
