After a successful first run, Isang Harding Papel: A Martial Law Musical will be restaged this February 10, 2017 at the AFP Theatre, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. This musical teaches kids about the horrors of Martial Law under the Marcos regime, a subject that is often thought of as difficult to present to children.

Isang Harding Papel tells the story of Martial Law through a child’s point of view: that of Jenny, a young girl who regularly visits her mother, a political prisoner, in jail. The musical shows how children are victimized by oppressive governments, and how their childhood is defined and redefined in trying times.

The musical is adapted from the Adarna House children’s book of the same name written by Augie Rivera and illustrated by Rommel Joson. It was written for stage by Nanoy Rafael and set to music by Thea Tolentino. Boni Juan is the production designer for the restaging, directed by Nor Domingo.

Isang Harding Papel: A Martial Law Musical is part of HinabingHaraya, the annual theatrical production of Raya School, a progressive school in Quezon City. It is presented in partnership with WhenInManila.
