TechnoKids Philippines partner schools engaged in a friendly battle against each other for the IT Cup 2017 in De La Salle University-Manila last Saturday. For years, IT Cup 2017 featured a fully digital IT Quiz Bee, Multimedia competition and the highly anticipated Robotics olympiad.

“In ITCup 2017, we continue to promote friendly interschool competition and ingenuity with the theme of Fantastic Future Through Technology.” Ryan Ong, TechnoKids curriculum manager, said.

Students and their coaches were quick to set their eyes on the prize as they hurdle challenges posed in this year’s competition. Students’ skills, smarts, and savviness are expected to shine the most during the event.

“In the Quiz Bee students battle outwit vs wit. The Multimedia competition allowed expressions for imaginative illustrations, futuristic animations, and reimagined websites.” Ong also explained the game categories. “Finally, an exciting array of minute-to-win-it challenges interspersed the Robotics competition that demonstrated creativity and skill with robot construction and activation.”

Met with equally high spirits and passion, St. Joseph School of Tondo emerged as the Robotics champion team. St. Andrew’s School Parañaque and Holy Family Parochial School, Quezon City followed as their first and second runner-up.

The creative juices were also put to test in the IT Cup’s Multimedia competition. San Beda College Taytay showed Web Design prowess and was closely followed by the Cainta Catholic College and St. Anthony School Manila.

San Isidro Catholic School was also victorious in gaining the top spot for Graphic Design and they are succeeded by Binangonan Catholic College and Escuela Catholica de San Sebastian. Further, the Animation top prize was awarded to Colegio San Agustin Biñan with St. Paul College Makati and Marikina Catholic School claiming the second and third place, respectively.

The battle of the wits stole the show as Malate Catholic School stepped their game up as champions for the IT Quiz Bee grade school division while Our Lady of Hope Parochial School and St. Andrew’s School Parañaque settled for the second and third place.

The IT Quiz bee’s high school division presented a different story as the champions came from the Sisters of Mary Immaculate School. St. Andrew’s School of Parañaque once again placed second while St. Paul Makati to Ann Arbor Montessori Learning Center claimed the third spot.

True to the IT Cup 2017 theme, the abilities and dedication that the students showed off is a testament to the promising and fantastic future. This is exactly what TechnoKids Philippines wish to instill to the country’s education landscape: a passion to be innovative and creative not only for the sake of Information Technology, Multimedia, and Robotics but also for a better world.
