Sandigan Freezes Corona’s Bank Accounts But Finds ONLY P7580 LEFT

The Sandiganbayan ordered a freeze issue against the assets of former Chief Justice Renato Corona and his wife, but it seems like it might have come too late after just P7,580.98 was found in their bank accounts, according to a report by the Inquirer.

Per the Inquirer report, the amount was found in two of nine bank accounts supposedly maintained by Corona and his wife, with P1,056.27 in an account with Bank of the Philippine Islands, and P6,524.71 in a Philippine National Bank account under Mrs. Corona’s name.

The Corona couple face a case of alleged ill-gotten wealth before the Sandiganbayan’s Second Division, which amounts to a total of P130.59 million.

The anti-graft court issued a writ of preliminary attachment in line with the case, which ensures that the respondents of the case do not touch their properties while facing the charges, according to the Inquirer report.

The Sandiganbayan also reportedly managed to freeze the Corona couple’s other properties, which include condominium units from One Burgundy Plaza in Katipunan, Quezon Cit, The Columns in Makati City, Bellagio I and Bonifacio Ridge, both in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
