Now it’s no surprise that Samsung is way in the lead when it comes to the Android-powered smartphones that we all know and love today. The Galaxy SIII is the third rocking installment to Samsung’s Galaxy line of top-of-the-line phones, and boy, does this one have a lot in store for you. After all, they took their time in polishing their baby.

Samsung Galaxy SIII: Hyperglazed Over

Starting off with looks, the SIII departs from its two predecessors, looking more like a polished pebble than an iPhone nemesis. With a 4.8” screen, there’s no shortage of real estate up front, and the 720 x 1280 Super AMOLED display is vibrant and pleasing to the eye, despite being PenTile.

Admittedly, the original images of the Samsung Galaxy SIII were pretty questionable; nonetheless when I got to see the unit in real life, the premium build quality was there. It’s surprisingly light for its size, only at 133 grams, and the glossy Hyperglaze finish is pleasant to the touch, leaving few fingerprints visible.

Samsung Galaxy SIII: Quad-core and Beyond

Inside, the Samsung Galaxy SIII is a monster of a phone. With a 1.4 GHz Exynos quad-core processor, people have called it a Bugatti Veyron among smartphones because of its power and speed. Complementing it is a 2100 mAh battery that gives it a longer battery life than other smartphones. Paired up with Android’s 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the SIII is making a clear statement to everyone in the mobile arms race that this is how to run a flagship.

Samsung Galaxy SIII: The Experience

The experience of getting to use the Galaxy SIII was rather peculiar. With such potential, they took their time to deck it out with quirky tricks in its software to make it a uniquely ‘human’ experience, as they put it. The 8-megapixel camera was a pleasure to use, with surprisingly detailed shots and silky-smooth 1080p recording, along with bonus features like being able to take pictures while recording, and a 20-burst shot function.

Even its UI got a makeover. TouchWiz is now much more multifunctional, even while locked, and apps like SmartStay (which tracks your face to keep the phone from dimming or locking while you are using it) and Direct Call (which automatically calls a contact by putting the phone on your ear) are definite game changers.

Samsung Galaxy SIII: Drawbacks

Not to say that the Samsung Galaxy SIII is completely perfect; apps like PopUp (a picture-in-picture video function) are novelties at best, and S Voice (their counterpart to Siri) is not as intuitive as one might think – nonetheless, the Galaxy SIII still knocks the ball out of the park in terms of its outright mind-blowing performance.

 Availability

The Samsung Galaxy SIII is now available with Globe’s MySuperPlan in Plans 999, 1799, 2499 and 3799.
