Malacañang issued a statement regarding the compliance of government officials with quarantine guidelines this Thursday. It reminded officials that strict adherence must be followed in order to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo spoke on behalf of Malacañang following the alleged violations of Senator Aquilino Pimentel III and ACT-CIS party-list Representative Eric Go Yap to the quarantine guidelines.
Both Pimentel and Yap announced on Wednesday their positive test results for COVID-19. Pimentel drew ire from the public after accompanying his pregnant wife to Makati Medical Center and possibly endangering MMC’s staff and patients alike. Meanwhile, Yap attended a meeting in Malacañang.
“The protocols set by the government for persons under investigation or monitoring must be strictly and absolutely observed by all people falling under the said categories, regardless of their socio-political status,” Panelo said.
“They are not meant to discomfort or burden anyone. They have been established to ensure that public health and safety are secured at all times.”
