Do you want to run but lack enough motivation? Worry not because this April 30, 2017, UP Geological Society (UP GeoSoc) invites you to a fun run that will surely bring out the environmentalist in you! Join at an affordable price and promote responsible mining while being healthy!
UP GeoSoc is the oldest student organization based in the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS), and is dedicated to the pursuit of honor and excellence in the field of geology.
The society is composed mainly of students studying geology, a discipline producing leaders in mining, petroleum, exploration, environmental studies, and the academe.
In its 60th year, UP GeoSoc, along with its partners from various fields, will hold Run For Responsible Mining. The organization decided to launch the event in order to address the recent issues concerning mining and to give part of the event’s proceeds to a mining-affected community. UP GeoSoc, along with its partners, wants to prove that love for the environment and the mining industry can co-exist through responsible mining. Run for Responsible Mining will be held at 5:00 in the morning at the UP Diliman Academic Oval, and the assembly area is the UP AS Parking Lot, in front of Palma Hall. The fun run will include 3 categories: 2.2 km run, 4.4 km run, and 8.8 km run. Registration fees for each category are Php 400, Php 500, and Php 600, respectively. These are all inclusive of a race bib, race dri-fit shirt, sponsor’s freebies, and a finisher shirt for 8.8 K finishers. For a fun run that aims to help a mining-affected community, surely it’s worth your money!
