Rose Red, Snow White’s Sister, Will Get Her Own Live-Action Movie!

Rose Red, Snow White's Sister, Will Get Her Own Live-Action Movie

It’s the of Age of Nostalgia in cinema. These days, movies are either remakes or sequels of beloved films, as they’re considered safe bets by studios. If people fell in love with The Jungle Book in 1967, people are bound to fall for it in 2016.

Now, the story of Snow White is receiving the remake treatment (sort of), as her sister, Rose Red, is getting her own live-action movie.

The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter:

The story is a revisionist take that transposes Rose Red into the Snow White tale, making her a key player in the later part of the classic story. When Snow White takes a bite from the iconic poison apple and falls into her Sleeping Death, her estranged sister, Rose Red, must undertake a dangerous quest with Grumpy and the other dwarves to find a way to break the curse and bring Snow White back to life.

Rose Red does not make an appearance in the 1937 Disney film, but she is present in the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Snow White and Rose Red” (not to be confused with the Grimm Snow White tale with dwarves for friends, simply titled “Snow White”). In “Snow White and Rose Red,” the two young sisters care for a bear during the winter. During the summer, the bear asks the girls to guard his treasure from a wicked dwarf. When the girls encounter the dwarf, the bear protects them, and he transforms into a prince. The prince marries Snow White while his brother marries Rose Red.

The Rose Red movie doesn’t seem to follow the Brothers Grimm classic, and looks to follow the Disney classic instead.

Now the question is, who will play Rose Red? Share your bets below!
