Next up, we had their meaty Pork Gyoza. The realness of the meat taste is maintained – truly quality gyoza with every mouthful.
Since it was a bit cold that afternoon, bowls of the Chasu Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen were a warm welcome to our stomachs. The broth is flavorful, the meat is soft, and the ingredients just go well altogether. It’s not overwhelming, either – it’s just right.
Let’s move on to the rice bowls: first on our table was the Gyudon. Strips of beef, mushrooms and egg yolk all mixed in for something filling and savory. Their special gyudon sauce adds extra oomph to this dish.
The second bowl was the Katsudon – pork in its unique breading that’s tender and delicious.
I never leave a Japanese restaurant without trying their Tempura. Well, Roku’s version is on the side of “it’s-better-eaten-alone.” In this case, I mean without any rice. It’s still great when dipped into its tempura sauce, though.
Of course, we saved room for dessert! We had the Apple Pie Gyoza with a side of ice cream. The hot and cold combination of this dessert won our hearts.
Finally, my favorite Green Tea Cheesecake ended our sumptuous Japanese feast. It’s fresh, creamy, thick, and not too sweet – one great cheesecake, I must say.
