Road to 1 billion: Here’s everything San Miguel contributed to COVID-19 fight

“We can make money again but life, once you lose it, it’s gone forever. So between life and money, I’d choose life,” Ramon Ang, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) president and COO, said before in an interview regarding the extension of the Luzon-wide lockdown.

Looks like the head of one of the biggest conglomerates in the country is living up to what he said and is rising to this unprecedented occasion.

More than a month into the enhanced community quarantine set in place due to the spread of the highly infectious and fatal coronavirus, Ang’s SMC has already mobilized close to P1 billion in the fight against COVID-19.

SMC made their efforts transparent through a Facebook post on April 16.

“Today, as we hit the one-month mark of enhanced community quarantine, we are stepping up our relief efforts to reach more front liners and communities outside the NCR,” the company wrote. “We want to thank our employees and partners who remain committed to their service. Let’s win this battle together. Sama-sama, walang iwanan!”

Pretty sure these numbers will still increase as we continue our collective fight against COVID-19.
