Relax and Unwind at Lalaguna Villas Puerto Galera

When you say Puerto Galera, you usually think of White Beach and the crazy parties, but on the other side of Puerto Galera nestles a tranquil place where you can kick back and relax.

As we stepped off the boat at Sabang Pier, the crew greeted us with a smile and whisked us away via complimentary speedboat ride to Lalaguna Villas Luxury Resort.

Warm smiles, cold towels, and sweet snacks greeted us upon arrival at Lalaguna’s reception where every guest is treated as a VIP.  The lounge area is right smack in front of the hotel area and its reception, making it a perfect spot to watch the sea or have some snacks.

Our room was located at the 7th floor which is one of the two Luxury Villas. Just right above it is the Penthouse Suite with a 100 sq. meter terrace.  It was a hike going up there. Some parts of the hotel is under construction and renovation, so, at the time, there were no elevators in operation.Expect one to be ready within the year or early next year, though. Rest assured, for those who do not like stairs, the rooms on the lower floors have the same western amenities and glorious views as the penthouse.

The penthouse suite is very spacious with a living room, kitchen, bath, bedroom, and a terrace area with an amazing view of the Verde Island Passage. You can see straight to Batangas from our Penthouse Patio which is also equipped with a telescope. In fact, if you know where to look and the sky is clear, you can see planes taking off from NAIA airport! If you look at the sky long enough you are assured to see satellites whizzing by, as well as a few shooting stars.

 

The penthouse room has a fully functioning kitchen with a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, stove, fridge, pans, and utensils. This is perfect for people who would like to cook during their stay instead of getting room service. Or perhaps this apartment could become home for those looking for a permanent or time-shared residence.

 

The bedroom has a king sized bed facing an entertainment area and working area, which are perfect for people who are traveling for business or for the ones who just want to stay in.

Aside from the beautiful penthouse suite, Lalaguna boasts itself of its crystal clear pool which is the largest in Sabang. It is also equipped with hi-tech purification system and is surrounded by high quality furniture, from sun-loungers and sofas to cantilevered, rotatable umbrellas, and service call buttons at every table.

Guests of all ages stay at the resort and many families enjoy the pool, especially the ones with kids. It is also perfect for couples as the multi-zone pool manages with its curves and landscaping to make some private corners available even at busy periods.

Guests can stay at the lounge area around the pool or eat their meals there. The kitchen and bar of Lalaguna operates for 24 hours everyday, for whenever you want to dine at the common areas, or need room service.

We took a look at the other rooms in the hotel. There are a number of family rooms and joined units that are perfect for people who are traveling in groups.

This is the living room and dining room of the two-bedroom suite.

 

The master bedroom of the suite has a Jacuzzi bathtub which is available to half of the the rooms in the resort. You can actually request a room with a Jacuzzi bathtub at an extra cost of Php 250 per night.

Opposite the 2br suite are the older premium villas, large single-bedroom apartments with kitchen and living areas, renovated to varying degrees yet retaining the original tiled floors, folding doors, and the stained wood features contribute to a rustic, homey feel.

The joined rooms can be rented as a pair or individually. It is perfect for friends who are in a budget or those who will not mind sharing rooms or even beds.

There is also and air-conditoned gym in the hotel which guests can use free of charge.

Power outages will be quite impossible at the resort as they have battery packs that instantly take over when the mains power fails, as it often does in this region, and can power the whole hotel for over eight hours. They also have a generator in case their power outage takes a while.

 

The view from every room of the hotel is incredible and that is actually one of the reasons why you would love to come back. The hotel recently received a TripAdvisor Excellence Award for 2015!
