Rebelde Class on Directing in the New Era of Filmmaking

For the previous years, filmmaking has gone through different processes and forms due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Theaters were closed for a long period of time, film festivals have been postponed, and creating films become more challenging. Thanks to various online platforms like YouTube, Netflix, and more, we were able to watch new content such as movies, series, and documentaries.

As it reaches its milestone of 10 years, Rebelde has invited two of the most sought-after directors in the Philippines to share their expertise in directing, and how were they able to push their boundaries in creating films and series regardless the pandemic situation in the country.

Rebelde Class is a session-based filmmaking workshop program of Rebelde that aims to offer a more immersive and accessible film education to everyone, both face-to-face and online. Directors Mikhail Red and JP Habac are heading the 22nd Batch of Rebelde Class. Both directors, despite the pandemic, were able to strive in the past years in directing having their works screened not only in cinemas, but in most video on demand platforms, which made their works be viewed by a wider selection of audience.
