Pope Francis is one of the public figures who have expressed support for the Philippines after Typhoon Ulysses affected parts of the country.

On Twitter, the Pope said, “I am near in prayer to the dear people of the #Philippines who are suffering because of the destruction, and especially because of the flooding caused by a strong #typhoon. I express my solidarity to the poorest families and those who are doing all they can to help them.

Typhoon Ulysses is the country’s 21st typhoon for the year. It triggered floods in parts of Bicol, Metro Manila, Pampanga, Cagayan Valley, Isabela, and more.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) yesterday, the death toll due to the typhoon is now 69.

Over 523,871 families or 2,074,301 Filipinos were affected by the typhoon.
