READ: “Hindi Ako Si Tonyo”–A Heartbreaking Post Inspired By ‘Kita Kita’

It seems that the Kita Kita fever is far from over. The romantic film starring Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy has been making a lot of noise since its premiere, and lots of people have been joining in with the bandwagon in their own ways. There are songs, letters, photos, and even parodies inspired by the movies–and all seem to want to have a love like theirs.

But this post by Jonas Paolo Garcia is different because it’s all about how he isn’t nor doesn’t want to be like Tonyo, the leading man played by Empoy.

He titles the piece, “Hindi Ako si Tonyo” and posts it on Facebook. Prepare yourself because it’s actually quite heartbreaking.

Read it below:

Dahil kahit mawala man ako.
Hindi mo pa din naman ako makikita.

He starts off by saying that he’s not like Tonyo in the way that he’ll let his Lea experience life on her own, without him always hovering around. He then continues to address a girl, saying that she’s not like Lea because even if she isn’t blind, she still can’t see him.

Then he talks about the ways that he’s like Tonyo in the sense that he was able to experience love and happiness even if it was just for a short while.

And then comes the real heart breaker. The author saying that he will never be like Tonyo because even when he’s gone, he still wouldn’t be seen.

Jonas shares that he was inspired to write the poem when he and his girlfriend just broke up. He wanted to make people realize how we should value people while they’re still with us.

I’m not crying! You’re crying!
