“Ratatouille” is Getting a TikTok Musical and it’s Going to Stream Very Soon

Disney has had a tradition of turning its classic movies into musicals or live-action adaptations. Ratatouille is the latest flick to get the musical treatment, except this one has a twist. It’s going to be crowdfunded and it’s going to be a TikTok musical.

It’s important to note that Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical is not an official Disney project, but the studio has given its blessing. Disney released a statement to The Verge, saying, “Although we do not have development plans for the title, we love when our fans engage with Disney stories. We applaud and thank all of the online theatre makers for helping to benefit The Actors Fund in this unprecedented time of need.”

Patton Oswalt, who voiced Remy in the 2007 film, also expressed his enthusiasm on Twitter, saying, “OH MY GOD IT’S HAPPENING. What an amazing way to start out 2021! And the proceeds benefit @TheActorsFund!!!! You gonna be there?!? I will! #ratatouillethemusical

The Actors Fund is an organization that offers helps for the entertainment community.

The musical will feature songs developed by TikTok content creators. It will include Emily Jacobsen’s “Remy the Ratatouille,” which was given the Broadway treatment by composer Daniel Mertzlufft. Blake Rouse’s “The Rat’s Way of Life” and “Ratatouille Tango” will also be part of the setlist.

Even the musical’s art was created by TikTok users. Jess Siswick’s Playbill program will be the official promotional artwork.

We’re happy to hear that all the TikTokers are credited and compensated for their work.

What’s striking about this musical is that it headlines some huge stars. Adam Lambert, Wayne Brady, Kevin Chamberlin, Mary Testa, and Priscilla Lopez are some of the names attached to the musical. Tituss Burgess, who played Sebastian in the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid and Titus Andromedon in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, will play the rat Remy.

Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical will stream on TodayTix on January 1, 2021 at 7PM ET, or January 2, 2021 at 8AM Philippine time. It will be available on demand after 72 hours.
