Rare Look of EDSA Without Any Billboards or Ads
Over the weekend and until today, the country has been in anticipation of the coming of the strong typhoon Hagupit, which locally is named Ruby. In the past years, we have experienced some of the deadliest typhoons like typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), Ketsana (Ondoy), Bopha (Pablo), and Fengsheng (Frank) that has left us with huge lessons. So now, we prepare way ahead to prevent massive damages in properties and loss of lives. This is a good practice and hopefully we continue it in the future.
One preparation that is done in the event of the coming of a typhoon is the folding of tarpaulin billboards along EDSA. Even days before typhoon Ruby entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the proper authorities have already decided to fold their billboards along EDSA. This gave a rare and clean look of EDSA without any billboards or ads.
Freelance photographer George Tapan took the following photos that gave a neat view of the billboard-packed highway if it were the usual, non-typhoon day.
