Rachel Alejandro Gets Love/Sick: Catch the Stage Play this August at The Mind Museum

Fresh from her star turn last year as the Witch in Upstart’s acclaimed production of Into The Woods, Rachel Alejandro returns to the stage in John Cariani’s Love/Sick, directed by Joel Trinidad.

Rachel Alejandro Gets Love/Sick: Catch the Stage Play this August at The Mind Museum

A multi-awarded pop star who has performed in concerts all over the world, Alejandro confesses that theater is, and will always be, her first love. “I try to do at least one play a year,” she states. “It’s good for my soul.” When she first read the script for Love/Sick, she was struck by its sincerity and raw emotional power— and its unexpectedly light comedic touch. “It’s rare enough for something to be so real and true,” she declares, “but somehow, this show is funny, as well!”

The decision to produce the show was, for the music icon, a no brainer; in no time at all, she had gathered some of her Into The Woods co- actors to co-produce the show with Upstart—including her good friend Joel Trinidad, who had directed that show in 2015.

Love/Sick is a series of nine loosely interconnected vignettes, a play that “delivers laughs” (New York Times) by “poking fun at the happily-ever-after notion” (The Huffington Post); a bittersweet comedy that explores the quirks of love and relationships— often in unique and unexpected ways. “Audiences are going to be surprised and delighted by the show,” predicts Alejandro. “I know I was.”
