Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is finally fulfilling her dream of becoming an actress as she officially joined the GMA Network family.
The network welcomed the beauty queen online through a post, saying, “Miss Universe Philippines 2020 [Rabiya Mateo] is #ProudToBeKapuso. Welcome to GMA Network!”
At the time of her contract signing last November 18, she admitted to GMA News how emotional she felt to embrace this new chapter in her career.
“To be honest, kanina, para akong maiiyak,” Rabiya shared. “It’s the joy talaga of fulfilling another dream. Of the trust na ibinigay sa ‘yo ng network to give you projects.”
She also expressed her gratitude that the network gave her this opportunity despite not having any prior experience with acting.
She will be debuting as a Kapuso actress in the GMA series “Agimat ng Agila.”

Rabiya has made it publicly known following the Miss Universe 2020 pageant that she plans to bid goodbye to the pageant scene and enter showbiz.
“Rabiya Mateo as a beauty queen is saying goodbye for now but I am excited in trying my chances in show business,” she stated during the coronation night of her successor held last September. “I really want to try hosting and acting soon.”
