As countries get access to vaccines, the Philippines prepares to get vaccine supply and how to roll-out the program. Cities like Quezon City, Manila, and Navotas are considering to include non-residents for their LGU programs.
In an online Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco are pushing forward with the plan to get better results of herd community.
“How can you achieve herd immunity kung mga residents mo lang ang babakunahan mo tapos ‘yung kalahating hindi mo residente hindi mo babakunahan?” asked Mayor Joy Belmonte.
According to Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco, they can allow vaccination for those who are working in their city whether it’s a government office or company. “As long as they are working in Navotas, we will vaccinate”, he added.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno texted to Rappler, “Hanggang kaya namin, as many as possible”.
