Quezon City Government Designates P1 Billion for Food Assistance Amid Community Quarantine

The Quezon City government has announced an allocation of Php 1 billion in food assistance for the entire duration of the quarantine period. This is meant to sustain at least 400,000 families until the mandated end of community quarantine.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte explained that they plan to distribute 400,000 food packs, supposedly good for 2 million people, each week of the enhanced community quarantine.

The official QC Government Facebook page released a clarification on these funds this March 23. Contrary to misinformation alleging that Php 1 billion would be spent on 400,000 food packs, the total amount has actually been earmarked to cover food assistance for the 4 weeks of the community quarantine.
