Protesters Gather Outside Indonesian Embassy For Mary Jane Veloso

Protest for Mary Jane Veloso

Various groups gather outside the Indonesian embassy in Makati for a vigil, as last-minute attempts to protest the impending execution of Filipina Mary Jane Veloso in Indonesia, who faces the death penalty after being convicted for drug trafficking.

Different groups such as Migrante, Gabriela, and the Alliance of Concerned Teachers have set up camp since April 26, holding vigils as they await the fate of the OFW.

Mary Jane Veloso was convicted of drug trafficking, after 2.6 kilograms of heroin was reportedly found in her luggage at the Yogyakarte Airport in 2010, according to several local reports. Addtionally, a 72-hour notice of her execution date was reportedly given last April 25.
