Project NOAH to Close on Feb Because of “Lack of Funds”

As someone living near Marikina River, Project NOAH has been useful and effective for me especially when there is a typhoon in the country. I get my updates via their app and their Twitter account, and it helps me plan ahead in case of emergency. Since I’m able to plan and act fast due to the updates, it makes feel at ease even when there are strong rains and possibility of flooding. So, I’m sad and uneasy to know that Project NOAH is coming to an end soon.

According to an interview with dzRH, Project NOAH will close after February 28 because there are no more funds available to support it.

The report added that “the 2017 General Appropriations Act or national budget removed some P9 billion from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund or Calamity Fund.”

With this, guess I have to find other sources for real-time hazard updates.
