Prince Harry Protects Girlfriend, Meghan Markle, Warns About Press Harassment

On Tuesday, Britain’s Prince Harry warned the press against harassing his girlfriend, American actress Meghan Markle.

The Kensington Palace in England released a rare statement that confirms the couple’s relationship for the first time but mentions that “the past week has seen a line crossed”. Moreover, on the statement, they condemned the press and social media trolls of sexist and racial abuse.

The statement also read, “His girlfriend Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”

This statement has put an end to the weeks of speculation of the press as to whether the pair are in a relationship.

The statement added that Markle, who lives in Toronto, Canada where the TV series (Suits) where she plays a role in is filmed, experienced having photographers breaking into her home and even her ex-boyfriend was offered “substantial bribes” by various media outfits.

Apparently, Prince Harry asked to release a statement to the press in order to protect his girlfriend and so that the press “can pause and reflect before any further damage is done”.
