Pope Francis received a doll that resembles him known as “Lolo Kiko” as a gift from Filipino priest studying in Rome. Lolo Kiko was what Filipinos called Pope Francis when he visited the Philippines in January last year.

According to CBCPNews, the official news service provider of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Fr. Robert Young gave the doll to Pope Francis at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran.

From the Facebook page of Vatican Radio, a photo of Pope Francis holding the doll was posted.

Fr. Young, who is taking up Doctorate in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, said he took this opportunity to give the doll to the Pope Francis. According to him, the doll was from a friend in Manila who made “Lolo Kiko” dolls as souvenirs for the pope’s visit in Manila.

He said that he had to cross security lines to reach the pope.

The pope was at the cathedral for the annual Roman clergy meeting.
