The Pokémon Company just made a big announcement at a recent press conference held in Tokyo. Apparently, the company behind the popular mobile game Pokémon GO is working on a new app called Pokémon Sleep.
The new app aims to track a user’s sleeping patterns to determine how this will affect gameplay. Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara said that Pokémon Sleep will “turn sleeping into entertainment.” This will mimic Pokémon GO’s achievement of turning walking into entertainment.

What if you could continue training your Pokémon…even in your sleep? ?
In 2016, Pokémon GO turned the simple act of walking into entertainment, making the entire world into a game. We’re about to do it again, Trainers—this time, for sleeping.

Nintendo is working on a new Pokémon GO+ Plus (yes, that’s Plus times two), which will work with Pokémon Sleep and will be compatible with the current Pokémon GO app. The new Pokémon GO+ Plus will have an accelerometer. At night, it can track your sleep that it will send on your smartphone.
Pokémon Sleep is currently being developed by SELECT BUTTON, which is also the team behind the mobile game Pokémon: Magikarp Jump.
Pokémon Sleep is scheduled for a 2020 release.
