PinasMunaTayo: Government and Private Sectors Call Upon Pinoys to Eat, Shop, and Travel Local

After almost a three-month enforced lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippines starts to re-open businesses urging the public and private sectors to work together in reviving the economy. In an effort to slowly adapt to “new normal” and jumpstart the economy, private sector groups along with several government agencies including the Department of Tourism, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of Science and Technology join hands for the #PinasMunaTayo online campaign.

TRIPINAS MUNA! Sino pa ba ang tutulong sa atin kung di tayo-tayo rin? I know a lot of you are itching to travel again, some of you are blessed enough to travel abroad. That’s fantastic, more power to you. But I say keep that tourism money back here in the motherland. You know how many foreigners are craving to travel AAAAALL the way to the greatest tropical islands in the world, the Philippines?! Challenge yourself to visit an island you’ve NEVER visited before (we have 7,641 islands to choose from and all are DOPE af). You’re not a fan of our white sand beaches and clear bath waters? Then do what this self-professed mountain man does, hike our insane and “out of this world” mountains in Luzon and the mighty mountain ranges of Mindanao. We have it all here! Let’s stay home and travel the Philippines, stay in boutique hotels, home stays or a tent under the stars, eat home cooked meals made with love, buy pasalubong and reinvigorate our economy. Choose your favorite local destination and help the nation. Travel domestic muna pag pwede na para makatulong sa ekonomiya. Let’s spread the word! I’m challenging my friends @marcnelson @marcsoong @eduardolaraofficial @christi.mcgarry @alaizadavid @dreydavid @zizylicious @steve_near @willdevaughn @evademonia @its_enzopineda @nikkihhuang @jhudecruzx to join this simple advocacy to help rebuild our country. Please post your own photos promoting various travel destinations in the Philippines, and challenge as many to do the same. Visit @PinasMunaTayo on Facebook to download the logos just like in my picture. Para muling umasenso, dapat #PinasMunaTayo! #DontForgetToTip ❤️ 🇵🇭

Working on the premise that the country’s economic growth has historically been driven by consumption, the online movement spearheaded by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alliance Global Group Inc., and Resorts World Manila advocate for a “Bayanihan” among Filipinos to support local businesses first and spend their money in the Philippines to stimulate the growth of domestic consumption. That includes encouraging the Filipinos to patronize local services in leisure and travel, food and restaurants, retail and shopping, among others.

In line with the projects of participating government agencies, #PinasMunaTayo campaign is focusing on three components, TriPinas to revive the tourism sector by promoting domestic tourism and destinations, ShoPinas to push for buying locally in support to the retail sector, and LasaPinas to reinforce the love for country by experiencing local food and hospitality. The campaign encourages consumers to make conscious choices to help boost the economy post-COVID 19.
