Following the announcement of the Department of Tourism’s partnership with the UP-PGH for more affordable RT-PCR tests for tourists comes another project to make COVID-19 tests more affordable and accessible.
Tourists can now apply for an RT-PCR test at the PCMC or Philippine Children’s Medical Center for as low as Php750.
According to the Department of Tourism’s Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, the project is through the TPB or the Tourism Promotions Board to partner with PCMC to finance Php8.7M to subsidize tests for tourists.
The original RT-PCR test cost at PCMC is Php1,500 and tourists can apply for the 50% subsidy.
Qualified tourists can either be local or foreigners residing in the country.
โThe rolling out of the subsidized RT-PCR tests for qualified domestic tourists is just one of the tourism promotionsโ recovery strategies as part of our Safe Bangon Turismo campaign to support the Philippine tourism industry which has been adversely affected by the ongoing pandemic,โ Romulo-Puyat said.
To apply for the 50% subsidy, tourists must register through http://www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel/ and submit necessary documents like government ID, proof of airline or bus booking and confirmed hotel booking in a DOT-accredited accommodation.
