Philippine Documentary Film ‘Alon’ Gets Three Nominations at London Film Festival

‘Alon’ is a Philippine documentary film that aims to remind everyone of the perils of plastic pollution. The film is directed by Gabby Fernandez and produced under DLS-CSB as part of its Center for Campus Art’s gallery exhibit on plastic pollution.

To show just how much plastic affects the water, the film showcases stories of different local eco-warrior surfers who have seen just how much trash can be found in the sea. In the documentary, scientists, environmentalists, and surfers talk about the impact of trash and ask people for help in using less single-use plastic and learning more about proper waste disposal.

‘Alon’ has recently garnered three nominations at the London International Cinema Festival, which is happening from February 8 to 15, 2020. They have been nominated for the Science and Education Award, Best Director of Foreign Language Documentary, and Best Foreign Language Documentary.

The London International Cinema Festival is an event that happens every year. It showcases independent films from all over the globe.

Hopefully, ‘Alon’ will make an impact on everyone who watches it and inspire them to care for the Earth more.
