PhilHealth is set to roll out higher maternity coverage starting April 30, 2026, following an announcement from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Under the updated benefits, coverage for normal delivery in hospitals will increase from ₱9,750 to ₱29,000. For cesarean section deliveries, the benefit will go from ₱37,000 to ₱58,000.

The expansion also includes additional prenatal and postnatal care. According to Marcos, prenatal checkups will now be covered for up to eight visits, up from four, along with vaccinations and laboratory tests. After childbirth, three postnatal follow-up visits will also be included.
“Nais natin matiyak na ang bawat ina ay makakapagpanganak nang ligtas at hindi nag-aalala kung saan kukuha ng pambayad,” Marcos said.
The adjustment is part of the administration’s push to expand maternal healthcare coverage and help reduce out-of-pocket expenses for expectant mothers.
