The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is a hot topic during the recent presidential debate. It even went into a point where Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas dared Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to withdraw from the presidential race if he can send proof that there are Davao City residents who benefited from the health insurance’s programs.
However, Duterte said he applied for the program two years ago.
There seems to be a misunderstanding between the two and netizens tweeted their thoughts about it.
Mar and duterte have heated exchanged on whether Philhealth benefits exist in Davao. #Halalan2016

Instead of expanding PhilHealth, why not stop privatizing hospitals and increase their budget directly? #PiliPinasDebates2016

PhilHealth was created to provide national health insurance program for all in the country. It is a tax-exempt, government-owned, and government-controlled corporation. It is attached to the Department of Health.
Was there a misunderstanding regarding the PhilHealth topic between Duterte and Roxas? What do you think of PhilHealth?
