These Filipinos sure did not row gently down the stream. The Philippine dragon boat team won three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the International Canoe Federation Dragon Boat World Championships at the Regatta Course Krylatskoe in Moscow, Russia.
The team, composed of eight women and 12 men, bagged awards for the 20-seater Senior Mixed 500-meter event, 10-seater Junior Mixed 200-meter event and the 20-seater Senior Mixed 200-meter event. The host country Russia won the most awards, bagging 32 gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals.
This is not their first impressive run. In 2014, the delegation won five gold, three silver, and three bronze medals at the same competition.
They will soon train for the Asian Championships in November, which will be held in Puerto Princesa City. After that, they will train for the Asian Games in Indonesia in 2018.
