People between 15 and 65 years old now allowed to go out—IATF

People between the age group of 15 and 65 years old are now allowed to go out of their homes even for non-essential travel in a bid to revive the economy that is hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced this development on Friday a day after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF) settled on the new age group that will be allowed to go out.

“Local government units may impose a higher age limit for minors, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective jurisdictions,” Roque said.

Prior to this, individuals below 21 years of age and above 60 were required to stay at home. Additionally, individuals who are pregnant, have immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks were told to shelter at home. People under this group are only allowed to go out for essential travel and to report to work as needed.

On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet decided to gradually expand the age group. They also asked to have shorter curfew hours and multiple work shifts to allow more workers and buyers to contribute to the economy, further gradual expansion of business capacity to 75 to 100%, and the imposition of the one-seat-apart policy in public transport.
