PAWS volunteers do this neat trick to calm animals up for adoption

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) has launched Project CALM or Comforting Animals through Literacy Movement, whose main objective is to soothe animals in the shelter via reading poetry and children’s stories.

According to a post on PAWS Facebook page:

Today is the start of PAWS’ new program called “Project CALM” or Comforting Animals through Literacy Movement. This program aims to soothe and allay fears of shelter animals through reading poetry and children’s stories to them. This enables our shy and less sociable rescues to open up and practice social interaction to prepare them for future adoption.
