Pasig City pushes ahead with plans for mass testing

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto recently announced the partnership between Pasig’s local government unit and a private diagnostic laboratory to increase the city’s COVID-19 testing capacity.

“In line with our goal to test more Pasigueños, we’ve signed an agreement with Hi-Precision for PCR testing,” Mayor Vico said on Facebook.

“We came to an agreement several weeks ago. Now, we’ve decided to sign already — even while waiting for their DOH accreditation — so that we can start on the very same day they are accredited,” he explained.

Mayor Vico added: “They have one of the most modern laboratories in the country!”

Mayor Vico further explained the guidelines for testing in the comment section of his post. There will be automatic polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for probable and suspected COVID-19 cases as well as symptomatic individuals.

There will also be antibody testing for frontliners and close contacts by schedule. Those with reactive results will then take a confirmatory PCR test. Additionally, barangay-based random sampling will be done with Project Ark.

He ended by saying that if there are additional tests, both PCR and rapid, “we test more.”
