Park Smart and Park Safe: Never Be Too Confident This Holiday Season

Netizen Anna Leah Mayor just shared an incident with us on how someone tried to get inside their parked van to possibly steal the belongings inside or steal the van itself. Here is her account of the incident along with a photo that she shared:

car robbery

A car is probably one of the most valuable possessions a Filipino family or an individual could ever have. Needless to say, losing a car could be a huge setback for anyone. Guys, beware! It’s the holiday season and there are a lot of bad guys everywhere.

This just happened about an hour ago in Antler’s Square, Dasmarinas City, Cavite. At about 7:30-8:00pm, my family and I parked our car in a paid parking lot inside Antler’s Square thinking it’s a secured area. Then we had our dinner, and at about 9:15 pm..we planned on going home early because the kids have school tomorrow. This is what we saw. Damaged car door locks, scratches on the windows possibly from the tools that were used and visible handprints all over. It was obvious that someone tried to get inside and worse, someone tried to steal the van. We called the security right away to file a report only to find out that there are no installed CCTVs in the vicinity and we were told right away by the security personnel that they have no liability if something like this happens.

I just want to warn everyone to not leave your valuables inside and always carry them with you. Make sure all doors, windows, and the trunk are locked. Never be too confident that you won’t get robbed just because you parked in a paid parking or a well-lit area. Be vigilant and observant.

We are just thankful that nothing bad happened to us and that they didn’t get anything. Thank God.

Make sure you heed Anna’s words to park smart and park safe, especially this holiday season when more people are desperate and in need of money. If you have any similar stories to share, feel free to share them with us.
