Did you love Squid Game? Here’s something to look forward to: Park Hae-Soo, who played Ssangmun-dong’s pride and joy, and Seoul National University graduate Cho Sang-woo, is joining the Korean remake of Money Heist.

He is set to portray Andrés “Berlin” de Fonollosa. The role was originally played by Pedro Alonso. Park is also the first cast member of the remake to be announced.

In a video message, he said, “In the past five years, fans around the world have shown their love for the series. I hope our Korean version also receives your love and support. It is an honor for me to participate in such a wonderful series and above all to make Berlin an amazing character. I’m sure the rest of the cast of the Korean version feels the same way as I do.”

Park added, “As an actor and as a fan of the series, I want to thank the cast and crew of Money Heist for the great series they have created. We are looking forward to sharing the Korean version of Money Heist with you in 2022.”

He also thanked Alonso for sending him a mask used on the show. Park said, “in the Korean version, we also have a special mask. When we show it, early next year, I’ll give one to Pedro.”

The fifth season of Money Heist, which was released today on December 3, 2021, will also be its last. Following the Korean version in 2022 is a spin-off following Berlin, which is scheduled to be released in 2023.

Money Heist is one of Netflix’s most popular non-English series. Meanwhile, Squid Game is the platform’s most-watched show.
