Painting the Future

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “a house is made with walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.”

As visionaries of a colorful future, the heads of Habitat for Humanity’s SJCS Campus Chapter will lead a house-painting project on 23rd of November in Barangay Tanza, Navotas that will be participated by students, teachers, and employees of Saint Jude Catholic School. They will spend the whole day painting more than ten newly-built houses, as well as interacting with the community. This will be made possible because of Habitat for Humanity Philippines and its in-school campus chapter, in partnership with WhenInManila.com as the official media partner, in its quest to splash color to homes built for the Filipinos, one site at a time.

With these newly painted homes, the community will have a fresh look at how hope could be built into reality with perseverance. This Paint Builds event will be a perfect picture of camaraderie amongst people willing to be the architects of a progressive society. Although this project does not directly solve the problem of lack of decent housing in the Philippines, it is one step towards the goal of creating not just a house, but a home for the Filipinos – with love and dreams.

By creating colorful somethings out of plain nothing, not only are we making a habitat that acts as a catalyst for community development, but also a habitat that inspires people to lead a vibrant tomorrow. Together, let us paint a home. In that way, we will paint a future.
